Daddy Books

Thanks for the idea to post these Shawna! :) When Darren was about one or two I got the idea to make a cloth book for father's day for Curt. I played around with ideas and used things i found in the house. Canvas left over from the saddle bags I had made him that year was used for the pages, leather from the deer he had shot was used to lace the pages together, Tyvek paper my mom had bought at a garage sale was used for the written portion of the book as it can get wet, can be sewn and still acts like a form of paper. Then i found pictures i loved of Darren and Curt and planned out simple captions for each picture. I cut up the plastic table cloth to use to cover the pictures in the book and then sewed it all together on my mom's treadle sewing machine. She helped me serge the edges and it turned out so cute. Curt loved it. When i made my next ones i used Curt's jeans for the pages and cut up binder photo album pages to sew to the pages as they worked better than the tablecloth did. Here are the Daddy books.
